Buckhorn Fine Art Festival Awarded One “Best in Ontario Category”, Shares Stage in “Top 100”

Buckhorn, Ontario, Canada, March 8, 2010 —  It is "three for three" as the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival, no stranger to recognition, has again won the most prestigious award at the Festivals and Events Ontario Conference held in Ottawa, Ontario this past weekend for the third year in a row.

The Buckhorn Fine Art Festival was named one of the Top 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario for 2010 – from among over 2,000 festivals and events that are held across the Province each year.

"It's such an honor to share the stage in the same category as other major events, such as the  Toronto International Film Festival, the Ottawa Tulip Festival and the

Kitchener Waterloo Octoberfest, to name but a few" said Sherry Senis, Director of the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival.  "It is a testimonial to the collective team effort from our committee chairs, staff, artists, and the hundreds of volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival" Senis added. The festival enjoys visitors from across the Province, other Provinces, the upper United States, and Europe.

 Senis invites everyone to attend the Fine Art Festival running August 12 (Preview night) through the 15^th in 2010 to see why this honor was bestowed upon them.

This year, the Festival will host a "Canadian Masters Exhibit" featuring original artwork for show and sale by a collection of artists unsurpassed by any art festival of its kind. Collectors take note: Robert Bateman has generously provided an original oil for sale created especially for the show. His work is exhibited along with artists, A.J.Casson, Krieghoff, Glen Loates, Michael Dumas, Brent Townsend, Chris Bacon. Juan Martinez, Norval Morrisseau, Ken Danby, Fenwick Lansdowne, Claudio D' Angelo, Fernando Freitas and sculptures by Nori Peters and Joseph Jacobs.

For 33 years the Buckhorn Community Centre has been the hub of cultural and recreational programs for families living and growing in the area. In addition to the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival, which is the major fundraiser for the Centre, this Centre plays host to a wine festival, dinner theatres, craft shows, bridge games, exercise programs and children's Halloween and Christmas parties, to name but a few.  The Centre is a not-for-profit, charitable chartered organization run through fund-raising activities and the work of over 350 volunteers.
