What a terrific opportunity to explore your creative side in stone carving with a master stone carver!
The class will be limited to 25 students ages 12 and adults
When: Saturday June 19, 2010 Rain Date: to be determined if required
Time: 10 - 4pm
Cost: $25 TIA members $35 Non TIA Members Plus $20 for materials

Bring a lunch and thermos.
Wear old clothes, bring an apron if you wish, gloves and anything that can conceivably be used as a tool :-) While there will be some tools on hand
- Old nail files
- old carpenters/machinists files
- large framing nails
- those Christmas nut picks you don't know what to do with!
- worn out hobby wood carving sets
- The Dollar Store or Princess Auto in Kingston have quite an array of cheap files, dental picks and tools that can be utilized.

Soapstone is a beautiful decorative rock that is made up of talc and magnesium. It has been used throughout history for carving. Today soapstone is used as a material from which soapstone stoves, soapstone blocks and counters are constructed for use in the home. I suggest Soapstone is best suitable for Stone Carving.
