Just a word to let you know we managed to get Tanglefoot's Al Parrish to come down to Kingston & play a solo spot for our SFA summer 'Equinox Special' show this year.  Al will be accompanied on fiddle by another ex-Tanglefooter - our own Terry Snider.

Bio: Al Parrish grew up singing in choirs and playing in the high school band. A friend convinced him to join an after-school rock band, the first of many bands in many genres. In 1989, Al entered the world of folk/roots music when he and three friends created Brean Derg Muc, a Toronto-based, pseudo-Irish band that took the Ontario folk festival scene by storm during two years of brilliant success.

Over the next couple of years, Al freelanced in Ontario and the Maritimes with The Barnstormers, David Stone, October Browne, Kirk Elliot, Aaron Solomon, Anne Lederman, Dave MacIsaac, Jamie Snider and many others.

In 1994, Al began a 17-year career with the soon-to-be-legendary Tanglefoot, touring Ontario and then all across Canada. In 1998 the band began playing in the US, and that summer made its UK debut. For the next 12 years, Al was on the road with Tanglefoot about 150 days a year, splitting playing dates fairly evenly among Canada, the US and the UK. Tanglefoot won Crossroads Band of the Year (2000), Best of Bound for Glory (2003) and, at the 2007 CFMA, Best Vocal Group. In December 2009, the band played its final shows and disbanded.

Since then Al has been recording a solo CD, writing a memoire and a novel, recording voice-overs for commercial television and radio, video games and movies. Most recently Al has launched his solo musical performance career with several shows in the last couple of months, including an opening set for Celtic rockers Coole Park at their Toronto CD release, a concert for the Vital Spark Folk Club, and an appearance at the Jamland Festival.
