CityNews: Jayna Hefford Mural To Be Unveiled

The public has been invited to the official unveiling of the Jayna Hefford mural, at the INVISTA Centre.

When: 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 23

Where: Inside the south (back) entrance of the INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd at Fortune Cres.

Who: Mayor Harvey Rosen, Mark Potter, President of the International Hockey Hall of Fame and three time Olympic Gold medalist Jayna Hefford.

What: The unveiling of a mural, painted by local artist Shane Goudreau, in honour of Olympic women's hockey player, Jayna Hefford.

This past June, Kingston City Council unanimously approved the commissioning of a mural of Kingston's hockey heroine Jayna Hefford at the INVISTA Centre to publically honour her accomplishment of winning three gold medals and one silver medal in consecutive Winter Olympic Games competition. Ms. Hefford will be joined at the event by members of her family, as well as the girls from her week-long girl's hockey camp.

Mayor Rosen and Mr. Potter will give brief remarks, prior to the unveiling of the portrait. They will be available for one on one interviews with the media following the ceremony.
